Inglourious SOS

Today's show was mostly about my experience at opening night of Inglourious Basterds. If you want the full details of the night make sure to listen to the show by using the flash player to the right. To sum it all up the experience of the movie was ruined by a lady who kept "wooing" every few minutes, as well as the various cell phone texters.

We also talked about the FCC's investigation into the rejection of the official Google Voice app. Both AT&T, and Apple have released statements. Apple and AT&T say that AT&T had nothing to do with it. Apple has a few reasons as to why it was rejected. First they said that they never rejected it, and they are still reviewing it. Then they went on to say that it would change the experience of the iphone, and Google's servers need to be secure. Honestly, I believe that there was another undisclosed reason as to why the app was rejected.

The new Zune HD was the last topic on the show. The Zune HD is Microsoft's answer to the ipod touch. I has an OLED touchscreen, HD rasdio, and the ability to output in 720p with the use of the dock. I have pre-ordered the "Platinum" 32GB version. I'm really looking forward to it, as my first generation Zune experiences problems with the latest firmware version. I'll definitely let everyone know how the player is working out when it hits stores on Sept. 15th.

The New Adventures of SOS

Surely you can't be serious. I am serious... and don't call me Shirley. We started out the show talking about films, and how America's youth don't appreciate them as art, but rather just purely as entertainment. A prime example of this is There Will Be Blood, and a classic such as Blade Runner. Also we talked about Apple and it's crazy approval process for the app store. The FCC is investigating Apple over it's rejection of the official Google Voice app. I'll make sure to keep everyone updated on this story as more info is available.

We also talked about my netbook and hackintosh decision. I decided to just use my laptop as a hackintosh without buying a new netbook. It's great, but I also have a real mac that I use just as often.

Save Our SOS

Update on my netbook: I've decided to ditch the Aspire One and get a Dell Mini 9 and make a Hackintosh. This means that my Dell is going to have OS X on it. It costs more (even after my discount), but I think it's worth it. The total will be around $700 for the netbook and OS.

The "Mini crisis" about the RROD Xbox was a big topic as well. It was basically caused by Microsoft trying to save money. They now want people to pay to ship their broken consoles to them. This means at least $20 to have it properly packed. Microsoft has since cleared this up saying that they will send a box if it is requested, but you have to ask for it.

SKINS UPDATE:
I have found my favorite episode of Skins. It is from the third series, and is about the character JJ. I like it not for the story line, but rather for the way that the story is portrayed. I've really started to analyze movies and TV thanks to one of my classes I'm taking. I just thought that this episode was brilliant.

I also talked about No Country For Old Men. I really talked about how today's audience finds this type of movie very good, but a very important film like Blade Runner is boring. Once again you can listen to the show here.

First of all, you may have noticed our new website URL: www.scottolsenshow.com. That's right the show is getting better and better.

We started out the show talking about T.I.'s new show on MTV "T.I.'s Road to Redemption". I don't like the premise of the show, T.I. or the fact that MTV gave him a show. If you want to hear the full rant check it out on the player to the right.

SOS in the Morning

We're back and continuing to make changes to the show!! The biggest addition this time around are our new sound effects. As promised the answer to the unknown sound effect is: Anchorman.

We started out by talking about my newest technology purchase. The G1. It is the new touch screen phone running google's Android OS.

This phone is GREAT. It exceeded every expectation that I had. If you want to know more about it listen to the show!!

Also we discussed the all to famous "Red Ring of Death" on my xbox, and my never ending story.

Late Night Talk

In a new hour long segment of SOS we focused mainly on Tech due to CES 09 we started out by talking about some news related to the show. I'm working on getting new closing music. If you have any ideas, or you wrote something and you think it would be good for the show email me at scottolsenshow@gmail.com.

Also we think SOS will air every week from 9:30 - 10:30 PM Mountain Standard time. The day that the show will air hasn't been decided yet, but we are working on it.

The Microsoft keynote kicked off our coverage of CES 2009. You can read up on the article of the text messages displayed during the keynote here.

The news about the turn by turn directions on Ford Sync can be found here. I really want this in my car, and I found out they are charging around $400 to put it in a non Ford vehicle. I think I may have to drive to the dealership and get this installed.

We also talked aout the new Sony Viao P netbook. This is a little on the expensive side with the base model running close to $900. Read about Gizmodo's hands on article here.

Also we discussed the Asus Dual Screen laptop. I think I'm going to hold off on buying a dual screen laptop until the technology gets better. Check it out here.

This time in entertainment we talked about The Real World and Operation Repo. Two shows that I'm addicted to right now. I'll talk more about them on the next show.

After the break I talked about a new show on BTR, the Scotty Goff show. His first show is Friday Jan. 9th at 9:00 PM MST. Make sure to listen in!!

New Year. New Show

Welcome to 2009 and another great year full of SOS. On a whim, I made the latest show of SOS. We mainly talked about entertainment with me focusing on the British show, Skins. Here is that video I promised of the song that I played during the break. Once again, if you are planning to watch the show from the beginning just wait until you get to this episode.

New Format!!

Happy New Years from The Scott Olsen Show!!! It's a new year so it's time to talk about the show's new format. I've decided to throw politics out the window. If you want politics go to CNN. That doesn't mean that politics are banned if a listener brings them up, but it will be extremely rare for me to bring it up.

Second I want the show to be more comedic. That means that I will try to bring up topics that are funny, or can be made funny with your help.

Last We now have a new logo, which I designed. Check it out below and stay tuned for our first show of the new year. Mature audiences only.

Hiatus

I know that there was supposed to be a new show of SOS up weeks ago, but it hasn't worked out this way. I'm currently working on revamping the show's current format. We now have completely new startup music, as well as sound effects. I'm also working to secure some guests, so the show won't be an hour of me talking. While I'm working on the show I won't be able to produce any new segments. The next show will probably be in late December, or early January. You can always check back here for updates, as well as anything interesting I find on the net.

S.O.S. Delayed

Sorry, for not posting earlier, but the Scott Olsen show for today has been delayed until later this weekend. I haven't had time to prepare for the show and I want to make the first "Mature" rated show a good time. So to pass the time here is one of my new favorite videos. It is a different take on The Office, as Clint Eastwood would see it. This video is done very well. I didn't think it was possible to take a comedy show such as The Office, and turn it into a serious show.

Welcome back!!! Today's show was very close the format that we will be following, however it did seem a little rough...at least to me. Let me know what you think. Also, if you listen live PLEASE call the show. It's free and it'll really help make a better show. Anyhoo, down to business.

Today we started out right away with tech news. I decided to run a political free show yesterday, so we had to skip that topic. I talked about the Hubble mission and NASA moving Atlantis off of the launch pad and the repair mission (which you can read about here).

We also discussed TV. We started with a clip from Family Guy before going to break with the theme songs from Entourage. This got us talking about Entourage, which airs on HBO, and how I love it. Below is the opening credits for Entourage, and the song I played is also on there.

I know the opening credits proabably won't suck you in, but if you have HBO give it a try.

We also talked about Family guy in more detail. Here is the video from the clip that I played
